Bye Bye Wood Rot!

October 12, 2017 by Kimberly

Exterior work on all four elevations at Norris House involves a ton of siding board replacement.  Even though these old boards are made of old growth wood with greater density and tighter wood grain, many of them were too warped and/or rotten to be saved.  Here are a few visuals on the scope of this replacement work:

The old boards that survive these replacement and repair efforts will be hand scraped to prepare them for painting.  We'll be very likely to have some remaining "alligator effect" even after this work, because we must take care not to damage the underlying original wood in the removal effort.

Painting will be at least a two step process: primer and then our selected colors.  Norris House is ultimately going to be a gorgeous soft gray with crisp white trim and black windows.  Stay tuned for pictures!
